| DAISy has now
more than 12 years of experience in the optical
laser domain. Its technical engineers have developed
complete CD, DVD and SACD applications for high-end purpose, but also
test tools for the laser module's production lines.
Softwares to control the servo-decoding
section of these applications have also been
entirely realised in DAISy's laboratories. A
lot of attention has been brought to the
communication process with CD, DVD and SACD
modules in order to develop easy-to-use
man-machine interfaces for the customer's
end-products. Thus, with Compact Disc, the
standard DSA
interface has been the key point for development and upgrade of
CD

In fact, all the know-how learned from many years of
experience in CD
applications has made very easy the transition to
the new technologies, like DVD
and SACD. DAISy has been the first company
to enter the OEM business of DVD and SACD.
As a result, hundred of thousands of kits have now been shipped
all over the world
Besides, DAISy provides
a full technical support to the high-end
manufacturers who would like to enter the DVD
and SACD market.
Another way to help the audio/video
manufacturers with their new developments, is to
take advantage of the current international
networks to exchange information. For example,
technical documentation concerning the new
products is available from the DAISy internet site;
in other words, the manufacturer's R&D engineers
have an immediate access to the required technical
documents.

Because the DVD
and SACD technologies have appeared only recently on the
consumer market, the corresponding products are
regularly upgraded in order to include the
latest audio and video improvements
(progressive-scan video, HDMI, ...).
In parallel, DAISy is concerned by the
compatibility of its products, so that
audio/video manufacturers can use the same
design in their production lines for long-term
periods.

The recent
introduction of DVD & SACD does not mean that CD
is already dead. Today's CD
application can achieve audio data retrieving in a
way which has never been reached before, due to the
quality of the optical pick-up units and the latest
hardware related components, and also due to the
accuracy of the new control softwares : more
than 20 years after the introduction of the first CD
players, new CD modules are still developed by DAISy
for the
high-end audio market.
