 DAISy history

 1994
Digital Audio Industrial Supply (DAISy) is set up with the full cooperation and backing of Philips Laser Optics.

The CD technology based on a linear movement of the sledge and including a LDGU type laser-head replaces the galvanometric arm of older mechanisms.
Most of the products include the CDM12.4 OPU, like the L1210/01 or the L1265/01 CD loaders.

The spearhead of the company remains the CDM12industrial module because of its professional metal casing and its excellent playability.

 1996
A new generation of CD decoding ICs have been developed in order to improve data retrieving (SAA737x).

DAISy achieves the development of the Premium 7050 reference application which will be used to test CD mechanisms on Philips production lines. The related Premium 7051 application is intended for the high-end audio market.
All the modules are based on the standard DSA communication interface which ensures a compatibility within the manufacturer's applications.

 1997 DAISy introduces a low-profile tray-loading CD module : the Short Loader MK2.

 1998
The CDM12industrial is modified to include a decoder of the new generation : SAA7372 (CD7). Since the module is intended for the professional audio market, its name is consequently changed to CD-Pro (VAU1252). It is however fully compatible with previous generations thanks to the standard DSA communication protocol.

Because of its success in the audio industry, the Short Loader MK2 will also be modified to include a new decoding IC, and becomes the Short Loader MK3.

Thanks to the know-how DAISy has got in the optical laser domain, it has been very easy to make the transition to the digital video world with the introduction of the DVD technology : thus, DAISy is the first company to offer an OEM DVD solution in the audio/video market.
The first samples for DVD applications are based on the VAE3000 DVD module.

 1999
The VAE1250 module becomes the new reference in tray-loading module, thanks to its new decoder (SAA7324) and its numerous OEM options.

With the fourth generation of DVD modules (ASD-1), DAISy proposes a DVD application which is intended for the high-end audio/video manufacturers : a high video quality which is tested in DAISy laboratories, and customisation possibilities in order to match the requirements of the manufacturers world wide.

In 1999, the first internet site of the company takes also place on the web.

 2000

The new CD-Pro2 module includes the CD10 decoder : now, it can play back all types of Compact Discs, including CD-RW discs or enhanced CDs (Blue Book).

 2001
SACD goes beyond the limits of Compact Disc : this new technology is definitely intended for audio manufacturer of the new century. DAISy supplies the SD1.1 SACD module, which can decode the DSD stream (SACD) and turn it into an analog signal with an excellent musical quality.

The new DAISy web site is brought on the web : this new site has been developed inside the DAISy technical centre, so that all technical information concerning the different products can be made immediately available to our customers through internet. It becomes soon an excellent tool for technical support intended to the audio/video manufacturers.

 2002
Because the company needs a bigger place for its warehouse and its technical centre, DAISy moves to a new location based near Nantes and its international airport (Brittany : west part of France).

The DVD SD3 module replaces the ASD-1. It has been optimised to play back most of the current video standards with an improved playability.

 2003
New technologies are proposed for the current video applications : thus, progressive-scan encoding is now available for high-end DVD applications based on the SD3 modules.

CD is still alive : a new CD module has been developed for high-end audio applications : the L1210/65 module proves that CD applications can still achieve excellent performances in sound reproduction and musicality.

The third generation of the DAISy internet site is now completely managed by a dedicated service inside DAISy. As a consequence, it will be regularly updated with all information concerning the current and future digital audio/video products supplied by DAISy.

2004 The SD5.2 is introduced to the audiophile market in order to fulfill the expectations of the manufacturers for the growing interest in SACD format.

A video version is available, including the most recent progressive-scan technology developed by Faroudja, for exceptional picture quality required by the new plasma screens and video-projectors.

2005
Introduction of the new SD6.3 high-end SACD module. The decoding section has been entirely upgraded to bring better playability and audio performances.

2006
The video version of the SD6.3 is brought on the high-end video market : it includes most of the latest technologies in order to match the latest projection standards : DCDi progressive-scan with 1080i upscaling possibility,  HDMI output for digital video connection, ....

With the new SD8.1 module, DAISy offers to its customers an introduction to high-end video applications, as well as the latest decoding circuitry to design CD players.

The CD-Pro2M has been upgraded in order to be ROhS compliant (lead-free European directive) and becomes CD-Pro2LF (fully compatible with its predecessor).

2007 New CD tray-loading modules will be proposed with a high-level interface allowing easy customization of the user interface.

The DAISy Research & Development department is growing to provide full customization possibilities to our customers as well as a better and faster technical support.
The DAISy team is ready to assist you in development and production of high-end audio-video digital transports.
