The DVD module is
usually the master piece of a DVD player. It is made up of a mechanism (optical part) and a servo-decoder
board (electronics). The information are retrieved
from the disc and forwarded to a decoder which will
provide audio and video signals according to the
original encoded formats.
Thanks to the many years of
experience that Philips got in optical and digital
systems, the DVD modules are optimized to provide an
excellent audio and video playability. Most of the
current audio and video formats can be handled by
these modules (Dolby Digital, DTS, ...), and the
latest technologies (Progressive-Scan, HDMI, ...) are progressively
included to provide
the optimum quality required in the high-end video
market. Another strong
point which is appreciated by manufacturers is the
well-known reliability of Philips DVD modules.
The
On-Screen Display interface (OSD) can be customized
too, in order to make your application quite unique.
Because CD and DVD optical reading technologies are
quite similar, all DVD modules can of course read CD
discs. Some modules can even handle the high-end
audio SACD format.
For each DVD module, additional parts can be
proposed, like display kits, power supply units, progressive-scan boards, ... in order to make easier
and faster the development of a complete DVD player, and to
consequently reduce the time-to-market period.
More information are provided on the selected
module's page.

SD6.3v
|
|
 |
The SD6.3v module can decode
most of the current audio/video formats :
Dolby Digital, Dolby Prologic II, DTS, DIVX,
SACD, MP3... Besides, the digital video
signals can be
used for Progressive-Scan de-interlacing (through
HDMI
or components output) |
SD8.1
|
|
 |
Thanks to the
SD8.1 module, you can easily develop your DVD
application, since most of the audio and video
decoding are made internally. You only have to
take care of the user interface and the power
supply unit. |
