The 1080p Pscan HDMI V1 Board’s purpose is to provide a smoother and more
detailed image
that can be produced on the screen that is perfectly
suited for viewing fine details, such as text, and
is also less susceptible to interlace flicker,
thanks to the latest and most innovative
technologies including in this board.
Indeed, this board processes 8 bit interlaced NTSC, PAL or
SECAM signals while de-interlacing and scaling into
of the HDTV standards or into simple progressive
forms of native signals. The output is interpolated
to a 10 bit signal to prevent rounding problems
while calculating the gamma or other correction
tables.
This device includes the best progressive-scan
technology, known as "Full motion
adaptation", which optimizes clarity and
sharpness of the picture, while suppressing motional
artifact on fast moving parts.
The 1080p Pscan HDMI V1 Board makes the use of the Genesis
Microchip’s deinterlacers that were derived from the Faroudja
technology: it aimed at computing the angles of
edges and uses these information to optimally fill
in the missing pixels. Thus, it eliminates all
remaining motion problems ("jaggies")
generated by interpolation.
As you might be aware, it is dedicated to
high-definition video systems with resolution
corresponding to HD TV standards (720p, 1080i,
1080p).
