In case you are developing your own user software to control a CD
module through the DSA interface, you can rapidly
test the different DSA commands by connecting the
module to your Personal Computer.
Only a simple cable going from the parallel port
(LPT1) of the computer to the DSA communication
connector of the module is necessary.
High-speed
silicon diodes can be used for this DSA cable (ex:
1N4148)
The
control software to run on your computer is a simple
DOS program which let you type DSA commands in hex
format. For instance, the command 'play track n°2'
would be '01H 02H' (cf. DSA specifications for the
list of commands).
Thus,
you
are
welcome to download the
PC
software (ZIP compressed format). The
command file is 'd.bat'. Then, you can send any DSA
command to the module, which has first to be
connected to a proper power supply.
The following pages will provide
you with more detailed information on how to
run a DSA module from a computer.
