Play mode
|
First, you
should go to the directory
of
your hard disk
where the the DSA
PC software has been copied. For instance :
cd c:\dsadirectory <return>
Then run the DSA.EXE program :
dsa <return>
or
d <return>
if you want to use a log file.
This program will first read the DSA.INI file
located in the same directory. Then it will display
a screen divided in 2 columns.

|
|
|
The
left column shows the transmitted commands (commands
from PC to module), the right column shows the
received "answers" from the module. If you
have not done this yet, switch on the power supply
of the module. Now you can give commands to the
module by just typing
the proper
codes on the keyboard. For instance,
if you want to play track 1, you just type in two
numbers (separated by a space), "1" for the command
play, and "1" for the track number
the module has to
play. The number for the play command is
"1", hence to play track 1 you will have to
type :
1 1 <return>
You
will see that the disc spins up and the mechanism
starts to play track 1. If not, you may first have
to send a "read TOC" command. In the right
column of the screen, you will see the
information returned
by the module. First,
the
message "FOUND" when the mechanism has
found track 1. After this, you will receive subcode
time information every
second. This will appear in
the right column as well. If not, you can press
PAUSE RELEASE <F4>
Now you can try to jump to another track, for
instance you can
use the
following command to play track 5
1 5 <return>
Again,
you will receive "Found" and new subcode
back in the right column.

Stopping the disc
|
If
you want to stop the disc, you
can press the
function button F1.
Note
: This function button sends more than 1 command to
the module. It first sends the "stop"
command, then it issues the "clear TOC"
command to make sure that the table of contents is
erased. thus,
it gives the
possibility to change disc.
