Data organisation
|
Since the CD layer of an
hybrid disc fulfils the technical specifications of
the Red Book standard, its internal structure is the
same as for a Compact Disc.
|
Regarding
the high-density layer, 2-channel DSD stereo tracks
are proposed together with multi-channel music and
occasionally text information and pictures. All
these data have to be organized, so that SACD
players can find and use the required information :
music to be played, information to be displayed,...
|
The
structure of the high-density layer is actually
detailed in the following picture :
|

|
The
Information Area of the high-density layer is
subdivided in the Lead-in Area, the Data Area and
the Lead-out Area, like for conventional CD so far.
|
The
Data Area is again subdivided in the File System,
the Master TOC, the 2-Channel Stereo Area, the
Multichannel Area and the Extra Data Area.
|
The
2-Channel Stereo Area and the Multichannel Area have
the same basic structure : each audio area contains
an Area TOC and the Audio Tracks. The 2-Channel
Stereo Area contains only 2-channel Stereo Tracks,
while the Multichannel Area contains only
Multi-Channel Tracks. The optional Extra Data Area
may contain data of any kind.
